Climate change: Peru will receive half a million dollars to protect glaciers
The World Bank approved an additional grant for the country because of the high impact that global warming would have on the ecosystem.

The World Bank approved an additional grant of U.S. $ 450 thousand to support Peru's efforts in strengthening the ecosystem of the tropical Andes and mitigate the negative effects associated with glacial retreat.
"Climate change is a global challenge and the World Bank is aware of this challenge. That's why we chose to support this funding because these areas play a crucial role in the regulation and availability of water, "said regional director for Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela, Felipe Jaramillo.
The official added that the recent discovery that these areas are especially prone to the effects of climate change. This grant will help strengthen local economies and ecosystems from the impacts of glacier retreat in the tropical Andes, through specific activities.
